English
The English faculty at Cammeraygal High School is committed to developing confident, articulate and critical communicators through a rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum aligned with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Students engage with a broad range of imaginative, informative and persuasive texts across print, digital, visual, multimodal and performance forms, fostering sophisticated skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing and representing. Learning is underpinned by the close study of language, literature and literacy, encouraging students to think analytically, communicate effectively and appreciate the enduring power of storytelling and ideas.
Cammeraygal offers a comprehensive pathway across all stages of secondary education, including English Studies, English Standard, English Advanced, English Extension 1 and English Extension 2, ensuring every student is challenged and supported to achieve academic success.
The faculty has established a strong record of academic excellence. In the 2025 HSC, Cammeraygal students achieved three State Ranks in English Standard, alongside sustained success across English Advanced, English Extension 1 and English Extension 2, contributing to the school’s outstanding HSC performance. These achievements reflect the faculty’s commitment to high expectations, explicit teaching and the cultivation of independent, insightful thinkers.
Drama
Drama at Cammeraygal High School is a vibrant and highly successful subject offered throughout Stage 5 and Stage 6, providing students with rich opportunities to develop creativity, collaboration, confidence and expressive performance. Through the study of contemporary and classical theatre, students engage in the processes of making, performing and critically analysing drama while refining their skills in playbuilding, scripted performance, directing and theatrical production. The continued strength of student enrolments and outstanding HSC results reflect the faculty’s commitment to nurturing artistic excellence and preparing students for further creative study and industry pathways.
The faculty maintains a culture of artistic excellence, with students consistently producing sophisticated original and group performance works. In 2025, Cammeraygal celebrated two OnStage nominations, recognising the exceptional quality of its HSC Drama performances and affirming the faculty’s reputation for fostering creativity, technical expertise and theatrical innovation at the highest level
