Mathematics

Mathematics at Cammeraygal High School equips students with the reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills essential for success at school and beyond. As a comprehensive school, we are committed to supporting every learner, from those requiring additional assistance to students seeking greater challenge. Our highly experienced teachers deliver engaging, differentiated learning experiences that inspire confidence, curiosity and a deep understanding of mathematics.

A key feature of our Mathematics faculty is the Year 9 Mathematics Acceleration Program, designed for students who demonstrate exceptional aptitude and are ready for a more rigorous and challenging course of study. This invitation-only program enables students to complete the entire Stage 5 Mathematics course in a single calendar year, allowing them to commence the HSC Mathematics Advanced course one year earlier than usual. Students benefit from enriched learning experiences, greater intellectual challenge and the opportunity to develop advanced mathematical knowledge and problem solving skills from an early stage. Invitations to apply for the program are extended to suitable students during Year 8.

Beyond the classroom, students have access to enrichment programs in Years 7, 8 and 9, providing additional opportunities to explore challenging mathematical concepts and extend their thinking. In Stage 6, students may choose from Mathematics Standard, Mathematics Advanced and Mathematics Extension courses, with Mathematics Extension 2 available in Year 12 for eligible students.

Our dedicated teachers also provide after school homework clubs and tutorials across both campuses, ensuring students receive ongoing support and opportunities to consolidate and extend their learning. At Cammeraygal High School, we are committed to developing confident, capable and resilient mathematicians who are well prepared for future study and lifelong success.
