Personal Development Health and Physical Education

The PDHPE Faculty at Cammeraygal High School is committed to developing healthy, active and informed young people. Through practical and classroom-based learning, students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to make positive decisions about their health, wellbeing and participation in physical activity.

In Years 7–10, students complete the mandatory PDHPE curriculum, exploring health, wellbeing, movement and physical activity. From 2027, the new NSW PDHPE syllabus will be introduced for Years 7 and 9, followed by Years 8 and 10 in 2028, providing contemporary learning experiences that develop health literacy, movement skills, collaboration and decision-making.

Students can further extend their interest in sport and physical activity through Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS) in Years 9 and 10. PASS combines theoretical and practical learning across areas such as coaching, event management, sports performance and leadership.

In Years 11 and 12, students can study Health and Movement Science (HMS), exploring contemporary health issues and the science of human movement and performance. Students develop skills in critical thinking, research, analysis and applying knowledge to real-world health and sporting contexts.

Beyond the classroom, the PDHPE Faculty coordinates opportunities through weekly sport, carnivals, gala days and representative sporting pathways. Through these experiences, we aim to promote participation, teamwork, leadership and a lifelong commitment to health and physical activity.
