Science

At Cammeraygal High School, our Science faculty is dedicated to delivering high-impact, explicit teaching that empowers students to deeply understand and apply core scientific concepts. We take pride in our strong record of student engagement and outstanding academic results, achieved through a curriculum that connects science to real-world contexts. Our authentic learning programs explore the scientific method not only through contemporary global applications but also by integrating Indigenous scientific knowledge, enriching students’ appreciation of science.

The Science faculty offers rich learning experiences in Stages 4-5 Science with the option for students to engage with electives such as Aquatic Technology which allows students to connect on a deeper level with aquatic ecosystems and marine biology. In Stage 6 the faculty offers Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth and Environmental Science, Investigating Science and Science extension to all students at the school. These subjects are supported by expert teachers with real-world industry experience whose expertise supports a stronger engagement in students and a deeper understanding of the concepts taught.

Beyond the classroom, the Science faculty offers a rich array of extension opportunities in both Science and STEM. Students are encouraged to pursue their interests through passion projects and student-driven Depth Studies, fostering creativity and critical thinking. We also proudly support an array of extracurricular activities including participation in the Science Olympiad, Science and Engineering Challenge, FIRST Robotics Tech Challenge, da Vinci Decathlon, and more. Our commitment to these programs has seen our students achieve remarkable success notably with Cammeraygal High School being the only public school selected to launch a low-orbital satellite as part of the Fleet Space LaunchBox challenge and our FIRST robotics tech team being the first public school to ever be selected to represent Australia in overseas competitions.

Through innovative teaching and vibrant STEM opportunities, the Science faculty at Cammeraygal High School inspires and prepares students to become confident, curious, and capable learners ready to make meaningful contributions to the scientific community and act as informed global citizens.
