Student wellbeing

Like all NSW public schools, we provide safe learning and teaching environments to encourage healthy, happy, successful and productive students.

The department is committed to creating quality learning opportunities for children and young people. These opportunities support wellbeing through positive and respectful relationships and fostering a sense of belonging to the school and community.

The Wellbeing Framework for Schools helps schools support the cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual development of students and allows them to connect, succeed and thrive throughout their education.

Behaviour monitoring system

Students who persistently demonstrate inappropriate behaviour will be managed within the school's level system.

The levels system is designed to allow students to independently monitor their behaviour with the support of their classroom teachers and, where appropriate, faculty Head Teachers, the Deputy Principal and the Principal, and make appropriate modifications at certain levels so as to avoid an escalation of consequences. We believe that students who are held accountable for their actions and can see a clear pathway from actions to consequences will be more likely to develop self-discipline and make the necessary changes to their behaviour.

The levels system is a whole school approach to monitoring student behaviour. It is a particularly important way of monitoring student behaviour across a variety of teaching contexts and subject areas; this extension of monitoring involves a number of staff thereby making the student consistently accountable and increases the likelihood that a student will work to modify their behaviour.
